Tuscany Yoga Retreat

Tuscany Yoga Retreat

SUMMER 2020 | Villa Lena, Toiano, Pisa

Escape to wild Tuscany for four nights of relaxation, yoga, creativity and fun. Villa Lena is a unique Agriturismo experience, set in stunning and quintessential Tuscan scenery, and imbued with creative flair. Villa Lena has won the hearts of artists, writers, foodies and nature-lovers alike. Relax in supremely comfortable and chic suites, explore sensational Tuscan farm living, savour delectable cuisine, sourced from Villa Lena organic gardens, and thrive on twice daily yoga with Nina.

Villa Lena is a unique Agriturismo located in the heart of rural Tuscany combining holiday accommodation, a farm-to-table restaurant and a not-for-profit art foundation. Guests are invited to stay with Villa Lena’s creative family celebrating local Tuscan history, culture and food within an environment that offers international artists, writers, designers, filmmakers, musicians, chefs and agricultural experts space to explore and hone their respective crafts.

The estate is located in the Province of Pisa, secluded amongst 500 hectares of woodland, vineyards, olive groves and organic vegetable gardens. A 19th-century villa sits at the heart of the property, originally built for an Italian aristocratic family. It now houses the Villa Lena Foundation and artist-in-residence programme. Surrounding the villa, converted historic agricultural buildings—former farmhouses, stables and hunting lodges—house self-contained guest apartments and shared facilities.

Villa Lena cultivates both nature and culture, exemplifying a new way of living.

We have exclusive use of the San Michele rooms at Villa Lena for this retreat. Located right in the centre of the various of buildings, beside the main pool and with the views of either the 19th-century villa or Tuscan rolling hills, the accommodations in San Michele have been recently renovated and have air conditioning and WiFi. Each room is uniquely decorated with creative flair, featuring original artworks. Three rooms at San Michele are double en suite. Four of the double rooms share bathrooms with one other room.

We embrace the start of each day on this retreat with a soulful and uplifting Vinyasa yoga class that accommodates the needs of beginners to advanced yogis. Nina is passionate about curating her classes to offer unique and poetic insight, as well as sensitively guiding each student to reach their ‘physical edge’ and to challenge themselves safely. As we develop in our yoga practice in the morning, so we expand our capacity to explore and tune into our gorgeous Tuscan countryside surroundings over the day. Come evening, it will be time to reconvene for a soothing yin yoga and meditation session. Dive more deeply into your practice, soften your heart and recharge your batteries in the evening classes, readying yourself for a blissful dinner and restorative night sleep.

Villa Lena organic ‘orto’ is a celebrated organic vegetable and fruit garden on the villa grounds. It spreads over 2 hectares and just keeps on growing! The annual cycle of bountiful produce provides the Lena restaurant with fresh, sun-drenched veggies, underpinning their seasonally-led menus. On this retreat we will be treated to a delectable spread of fresh fruits, baked pastries and tarts (sweet and savoury), cured meats, cheeses, eggs, juices, coffee and tea for brunch after our morning yoga session. Every evening we will dine together under glorious Tuscan skies. Don’t forget to sample the Villa Lena organic wines and olive oil, both grown and produced on site!
