Sigurwana is a jewel to discover off the beaten track in South Africa!
Owners, Liesel and Neil Wright are art and nature lovers. Their Main Lodge was built in a fascinating way by using natural materials from the reserve - the roundly built rock walls are “going with the flow” of nature. A thatch roof which blends in with its environment gives a wonderful atmosphere. This is the heart of Sigurwana, where you will enjoy a warm and personal welcome, savour your meals, and thrive in your yoga classes.
All accommodation options are set walking distance from the main lodge.
Four chalets were proudly built by the staff, each with private bush views in harmony with nature. They are tastefully furnished, with en-suite bathrooms, big outdoor showers and covered verandas.
The Luxury Safari Tent is set off the ground on a wooden deck and sensitively constructed, surrounded by a fascinating rock scenery with view to “The Sigurwana Waterfall”, the Luxury Safari Tent promises an African experience. The tent has two double en-suite bedrooms, 2 outdoor showers and a tastefully furnished lounge in the centre of the tent give all the comfort and luxury you might dream of.
The Ystervark was designed by an acclaimed architect who perfectly combines the unusual with the natural. The interplay of light and structure conform naturally into its environment. He called it “Ystervark” – Afrikaans for porcupine. It offers a double bedroom with fireplace, ensuite bathroom, big outdoor shower, a covered veranda and a top deck veranda. Brightness, convenience and an exceptional design reflect the virtue of this unique accommodation.
Cooking with fresh organic vegetables, herbs, and using only ethically sourced meat is very important to Sigurwana. They love local, healthy and tasty food, and are adaptable to specific dietary requirements. The owner, Liesel Wright had great joy in publishing a Sigurwana Cook Book : Seven Steps to Heaven. This yoga safari package includes three meals daily, sundowners and drinks with dinner. At Sigurwana, many of the meals are served in comfort, outdoors!
